i’m going through a huge boyfriend jeans/stiletto phase right now. and yes, i am tiring the heck out of the baseball cap trend but i don’t care. i like my head much better when it’s covered by a hat.
happy sunday!

i met nick thiessen at a photo shoot earlier this year, and immediately recognized a talent i wanted to work with. when the opportunity came along to style a shoot for him, i didn’t hesitate.
nick is an amazing photographer with an eye for the perfect shot. we had such a good time joining forces to bring back grunge, along with hilary rhoda look-a-like, danielle flasha. i’ve been obsessing over editorials from the 90′s grunge era, and wanted so badly to recreate it. with the help of abbotsford’s seediest backdrops and a steady drizzle of rain, nick took some amazing shots.

PART III OF III - BUBBLEGUM PINK
my second favorite trend for spring? stripes! i was in holt renfrew at the end of the year and i spotted the t by alexander wang spring ’13 collection. tried it all on, and left with a happy wallet (untouched). i have always loved striped separates and find it fun & easy to pair them with other pattered or solid pieces. all that talk about rules applying? ignore it!
if you aren’t sure how to wear stripes, start by pairing a striped separate with neutrals; for example, try wearing the bcbg max azria striped bandage skirt worn with a solid black blouse. if you are feeling more adventurous, throw on your spring stripes with bright colours or florals. that t by alexander wang striped tee would look so cute worn with some patterned jeans… i have a snake print pair that would be perfect. i have so much fun mixing prints!
PART II OF III – STRIPES
bcbg max azria colour block power skirt / marc by marc jacobs striped mouse flats /t by alexander wang striped t-shirt / jil sander striped skirt / dannijo diaz earrings / issa london striped dress / t by alexander wang striped dress / clare vivier zip wallet / true religion striped skinny jeans
i don’t normally watch award shows, but i really wanted to see the cast of girls kick butt (which they did). SUPER excited that lena dunham & the cast of girls won 2 golden globes. so deserving of the recognition. she is such an inspiration to young women.
{here are a few of my red carpet favorites…}
anne hathaway wearing chanel couture
michelle dockery in alexandre vauthier couture
jodie foster wore giorgio armani
although i wasn’t a big fan of her dress itself, jodie foster deserves an honourable mention. looking fabulous at 50, her acceptance speech was so moving. anyone who can be themselves, speak eloquently, and be open about their sexuality is a rockstar in my eyes!
it’s no big secret – i am terrible when it comes to keeping up the blog. drafts sit idle and while i have collages saved & huge folders filled with inspiring images, i always find a distraction. with 2013 comes a more dedicated me, kick-starting with a three-part series on my favourite spring trends! i spent the last two weeks in paradise, so i’m especially looking forward to the sun and springtime. SO hard getting back to the grind after relaxation central, but it must be done!
PART I of III – BRIGHT BOLD COLOURS
as much as i love fall fashion, i’m so looking forward to experimenting with bright colours. no need to go head-to-toe with this trend; throw on some neon bottoms (see above; etro & stella mccartney) with a neutral top, or a wild pair of shoes (del toro & j.crew) with a more tame outfit. i love the idea of wearing your favorite denim with a bright sweater (romwe & j.crew). if you are daring enough to go head-to-toe with an eye-catching colour, try a bold-hued dress like this awesome neoprene number (tibi). and if you simply want to spice up any outfit with a pop of colour, cover those peepers with a pair of iridescent shades (oliver peoples), paint your nails somethin’ wild (nars) or carry a bright clutch (bcbg).
