christmas is coming…
thought i’d share some of the decorating i’ve done in the past few days. putting christmas decorations on a mannequin was a first for me but i love the way it turned out!

reader request: hunter boots.
i don’t own a pair of hunter boots, but i do have a pair of gumboots i like to throw on when it’s extra wet outside. i have been lusting over the maroon hunter boots and have spent plenty of time either trying them on, or conjuring up outfits to wear ‘em with. love the look of a more casual boot with classic pieces; this avoids looking too “dressed down”. love this pairing of the leather legging and simple t-shirt, topped off with a super cool coat and trendy fedora.
how to avoid looking sloppy while wearing hunter boots? wear them with a slim legged pant, steering clear of extra fabric around the top of the boot.
officially man repelled.
when i heard that the man repeller was coming to vancouver, i knew i couldn’t miss the opportunity to attend. but as i stood in line to meet her, i couldn’t help but wonder what to say to the person who has inspired me most to start a career in fashion.
i first discovered leandra’s website when i was a blogging rookie. among the vast sea of fashion blogs, i instantly identified with the premise of hers – i, too, “man-repelled” while dating – and ultimately had a relationship go sideways over my frequent wearing of high-waist pants & skirts. over and above the obvious fondness for her closet and wardrobing skills, i recognized a confidence within leandra that i have long been striving for. having gone through adolescence with low self-esteem, i gathered inspiration and a newfound sense of courage from the quirky blog. MR parades her sartorial choices in front of the entire world wide web i.e.. wearing bras on top of t-shirts, head-to-toe denim, gaucho pants, etc. that takes major guts, guys!
i explained this to the man repeller herself when i finally reached the end of the line, and quickly burst into tears. yes. tears. i wish i could’ve kept my emotions under control, but i won’t change anything about our conversation. she was just as i had pictured, and more. so gracious and normal and encouraging.

inspiration of the day.
nowness.
seeing rouge.
this rich oxblood red has my stamp of approval for my top favorite FW12/13 colour. the colour, (whether you choose to call it bordeaux, dark framboise, oxblood, burgundy, or maroon), looks so luxurious mixed in with neutrals, and can be worn dressed down and gussied up.
i definitely get a classic, polished vibe from this colour right now. drooling over those isabel marant boots. and that handbag. actually, all of it. dangerous.
this week in pictures…
i’ve come to embrace the fact that i can’t buy enough cozy, short sweaters. i wear them all year round, with anything from skirts and cut-offs, to trousers and over top of dresses. this one is made by kersh.
can you believe these two have been married for 34 years? we celebrated my parent’s anniversary last sunday at a lovely greek restaurant, and had time to reflect on their relationship. mom and dad have set the bar high, and i strive to one day have a strong, loving & lasting marriage.
i attended the muse social fashion house 2 year anniversary last friday. along with fabulous treats and a delicious glass of white vino, i was able to check out all of the new fall merchandise. loving everything that christine does with her boutique. she certainly is such an inspiration for all female entrepreneurs in the area!
check out a recent post done by the gals at treasures and travels, announcing the launch of muse’s new website up tomorrow!

was in my local grocery store the other day and discovered the most amazing, delicious fizzy drink! dry soda is an all natural, four ingredient, fizzy soda. had to get the rhubarb flavor since i’m a sucker for the tasty red fruit. i instagrammed the photo and received a nice comment from the company’s account. gotta love a company that really gets involved with their consumers!
pb & j ice cream. delicious.
camo wham-o
really into the camo trend emerging right now. i’m always looking at new patterns and textures to integrate into my wardrobe and camo is a cool addition to any outfit. i love the edgy print against more girly pieces. try the look by pairing a camo jacket over top of a dress, or printed jeans worn with a lacy top. i’m saving my pennies for the current/elliott skinnies.
camo military jacket $145 / current/elliott camo jeans $195 / nike runners $93 / camo handbag $74 / fringe scarf $31 / iphone4 camo case $3
